2023 Registration Deadlines
- WSDC Jack & Jill: Friday, August 18, 7PM (prelims are Friday night!)
- Strictly Swing: Saturday, August 19, 3PM
- Pro-am Swing and Hustle: Saturday, August 19, 3PM
All competitors must purchase a weekend pass.
Chicagoland Country and Swing Dance Festival reserves the right to combine or cancel divisions with five or fewer entries.
Prizes
- Cash prizes for the top 3 places all Strictly Swing, Strictly Hustle and Jack & Jill divisions. Amount is based on number of total entries received.
- Top teacher cash prizes for swing and hustle pro-am.
Rules
Pro-Am Strictly Swing and Hustle
- There are 3 Open categories: Newcomer, Novice, and a combined Intermed/Advanced.
- The pro partner is limited to a maximum of 5 different am partners per division.
- This is a lead/follow category and choreographed routines are not allowed.
- This contest will be danced in a heated format. No lifts, drops or aerials.
- Couples will dance to music provided by the Chicagoland Country and Swing Dance Festival.
- The music will be selected at random at the time of the contest
Pro-Am Open Routines – Swing and Hustle
This open division is for West Coast Swing and Hustle routines. There are not separate divisions for swing and hustle.
- Students enter with their instructor and perform a choreographed routine to music of their choosing,
- Routines are spotlighted.
- Dance order will be determined at random and posted prior to the competition start time.
- Music must be at least 2 minutes and no more than 3 minutes long. Competitors will provide music to the DJ as a single track 24 hours prior to the performance.
- Costumes are encouraged.
- Lifts and drops are allowed, but not required.
- Time starts with the first performance movement.
Strictly Swing and Strictly Hustle
- There are three open categories: Novice, Intermediate and Advanced.
- There is a Masters category for dancers 50-and-over.
- This is a lead/follow category and choreographed routines are not allowed.
- Same-gender leaders/followers are allowed. However, each person is allowed only one partner per level. (ie, same person cannot dance as a leader AND a follower at the Novice level).
- This contest will be danced in a heated format.
- No lifts, drops, or aerials.
- Couples will dance approximately 2 minutes to music provided by the Chicagoland Country and Swing Dance Festival.
- The music will be selected at random at the time of the contest.
WSDC Jack and Jill Swing
- Divisions offered: Newcomer, Novice, Intermediate, Masters, Advanced and All Star.
- This contest will be danced in a heated format and comply with the rules and regulations of the World Swing Dance Council.
